The tariffs of 2025 caught most businesses off guard, both in scale and timing. Companies scrambled to adjust manufacturing, shift shipping routes, and establish duty drawback programs almost overnight.  

Then came February’s Supreme Court ruling, and the conversation shifted again, this time to CAPE filings and the uncertain path toward IEEPA refunds.  

Now, a new chapter is beginning. The temporary Section 122 tariffs are scheduled to expire at midnight on July 24. Meanwhile, the Trump Administration is advancing new Section 301 investigations that could form the basis for additional long-term tariff actions on 60 countries. Unlike Section 122, Section 301 has a well-established statutory framework that has withstood years of litigation.
